Frequently Asked Questions

1 | How does Holistic Chiropractic differ from Symptom Relief Chiropractic?

Most people present with a reason for seeking chiropractic care...the goal is to educate and enable people to make wise choices in order to attain or maintain wellness.

Symptom relief chiropractic is about treating musculoskeletal conditions and other problems. The goal of this type of care is to reduce pain and irritation, and promote rehabilitation etc. in a specific number of visits. Once you reach a "symptom free" status or insurance stops paying, most people discontinue care. Inevitably 6 months to a year later the "problem" returns. The focus of Holistic Chiropractic is to assist the body in restoring nerve function, which then allows nerve energy to flow freely. The key is maintaining that function with regular chiropractic visits.

2 | What are vertebral subluxations?

Vertebral subluxations are painless misalignments of one or more bones of the spine. These misalignments narrow the openings through which nerves pass. These narrowed openings diminish the transmission of nerve energy, very much like a bad cell phone connection. Holistic chiropractic care seeks to facilitate the correction of these subluxations, leading to restoration of nerve function and ultimately health.

3 | What causes vertebral subluxations?

Subluxations always occur as a result of stress overwhelming the defense mechanisms of the body. There are 3 forms of stress, represented by the” 3 T's”:
Toxins- excess of food, drink, drugs, pollution
Traumas- “sleeping on the couch”, working out, not working out
     Thoughts- depression, anxiety, and such

Each of these stresses and combinations of them cause vertebral subluxation. Since every single person must deal with stress...every person has subluxations.

4 | Do you take x-rays?

No. X-rays are not needed in most cases. If X-rays are warranted local imaging can be obtained. Radiation from X-ray is damaging and creates disease causing free radicals.

5 | Do you use muscle stimulation or heat?

The purpose behind these modalities is treatment. Holistic chiropractic is about restoring and maintaining optimal nerve function, it is not about the treatment of symptoms. Regular chiropractic adjustments are more effective in maintaining health.

6 | Do you take health insurance?
